What is WCF?
- WCF is a network of individual people belonging to all of the major religious traditions of the world.
- Established in 1936, when Sir Francis Younghusband convened the first Congress of Faiths in London, WCF has since become one of the pioneering movements working for interreligious under-standing and co-operation in the contemporary world.
- Though founded in the UK, members are drawn from many parts of the world.
- WCF co-operates with other international interfaith groups that also foster mutual understanding, dialogue and reconciliation between different faith communities.
What does WCF do?
- Arranges a variety of events, including seminars,
conferences, meetings, retreats, visits and
group
travel. - Publishes a journal for the general reader and the activist, entitled Interreligious Insight: a journal of Dialogue and Encounter.
- Circulates a newsletter entitled One Family, which gives information on current and forthcoming activities.
- Maintains a website

Who else does WCF work with?
WCF is a member of the Inter Faith Network (UK) and works with other interfaith organizations in Britain and across the world. WCF has helped to establish the International Interfaith Centre at Oxford. It has good relations with many faith communities and members of the Executive of WCF are drawn from all major religious communities in Britain
WCF Mission Statement
The World Congress of Faiths believes that understanding between people of different religions is important for good community relations, for moral and spiritual renewal and for world peace. A principle is respect for those of differing faith. WCF by its educational work encourages interfaith understanding and co-operation at all levels of society.
WCF arranges a variety of conferences, meetings, retreats, visits and group travel. All these provide occasions to learn what others believe, what they think about life today and how they pray, meditate and worship. Some meetings are of special interest to teachers or to health and social workers. WCF also provides a chance for members of local interfaith groups to meet people from different parts of the country and the world who share their concern.
WCF Publications: The World Congress of Faiths publishes the leading journal on interfaith matters and World Faiths Encounter known as Interreligious Insight which is a new publication produced in cooperation with "Common Ground," Chicago, U.S.A. It replaces World Faiths Encounter which was published for over ten years by WCF. Rev. Alan Race and Dr. S. Rao continue as editors for the new publication. You may order back issues of "World Faiths Encounter" from the WCF Office (most are available for about £6 or $10 per copy including postage).
