Interfaith
Youth Core (IFYC)

Our Vision
Faith Inspired leaders from Mahatma Gandhi to Martin Luther King Jr.
to the Dalai Lama built effective social change movements by encouraging
diverse faith communities to come together on the common ground of helping
others. The interfaith Youth Core carries on this legacy by bringing
diverse young people of faith together to:
- Connect more deeply with the parts of their
own religious tradition which inspire social action
- Learn to understand, appreciate, and respect
other religious traditions
- Make a difference in the broader society through
interfaith social action
Our Organization
The Interfaith Youth Core is a youth-led, Chicago-based
international, interfaith organization. In June of 1998, a group of
religiously diverse young people from around the world found a common
interest in integrating faith, diversity and social action. Since that
first encounter, the Interfaith Youth Core has developed a strong program
in Chicago while also taking a leading role in national and international
youth work.
Our Chicago Action Program uses a shared values methodology to engage
a diverse group of local faith commu
nities
in transformative interfaith social action projects.
Nationally, the IFYC focuses on catalyzing,
resourcing and networking the emerging field of interfaith youth work.
Internationally, The IFYC has a history of developing
and facilitating workshops and presentations:
- The Next Generation at the Parliament of
the World’s Religions – Cape Town, South Africa
- Habitat for Humanity Harmony Build –
Hyderabad, India
- IFYC Presentation at UNESCO Headquarters
– Paris, France
